I think that it is AWESOME that Allen ISD is doing this! I love how the children get to experience the differences in such a real and personal way. Thank you for this video! Hopefully other schools and districts will be inspired by this wonderful project and implement it in their schools.
it should be required
As we have traveled and filmed across the US, the need for simulation programs (such as this one in Allen ISD) are greater than ever before. People often assume that you have to live in New Jersey, California, or a few other states to experience quality programs in the public school system. No system is perfect and no program offers all the services every student needs. Often, it is teachers and parents being involved that will create interest in delivering a program that can impact all children for the better and stay with them for their entire lives. I am so pleased the team went onsite and captured this so that others can see how it is delivered. It's one thing to "talk" about differences....it's entirely different to experience them.
