I am a current SAHM to two wonderful children. Diego (5 years old with SPD) and Mia a spunky 2.5 year old. I have been married to my wonderful, supportive husband, Carlos, for almost 10 years. Our children/family are our world. Having a child with special needs has been challenging but it also has been so rewarding! Being a Mom is the most amazing experience in my life and being the mom of a special needs child has made the experience even more rewarding. You see, I am a licensed speech-language pathologist....so I chose a career where I would be working with special needs children...it was my calling. But I knew the day would come when I would leave it all to be a stay at home mom. The day I left for maternity leave was bitter sweet....I knew that I would miss "my kids" from school but I was so excited to become Mommy. But from the moment we brought Diego home I knew that there was something different about him. It was very hard the first couple of years to be struggling with his issues but now I know my calling is to me a mom of a special needs child.
