Nephew undiagnosed but obviously demonstrated traits of aspergers throughout youth. My adult son and husband (on his side) both have autism diagnosis through Regional Center in CA. Both remain self-supporting but we are familiar with the problem but not with how to obtain "adult" services. This nephew was self supporting for years at very routine job (bookstore clerk) and with family support but destablized during past year, drifted from family member to family member and is now out of people able to help. He has family in CA and in Arizona where he is losing his apartment this week.

Mandy's Special Farm (MSF) is a home for women with autism, autism tendencies, and related disorders. MSF is on a gorgeous 4.22 acres of land in the south valley of Albuquerque, NM. We have goats, chickens, guinea hens, turkeys, cats, a dog, and horses for riding and therapy. We also have a large organic garden, an orchard, pasture, and an indoor pool. We make it as homey as possible, with “family” dinners and a cozy house. We strive to make MSF more than just a place to live; it is a structured environment that fits well with those who have symptoms of autism.

I have a son with autism and now realize that Asperger's fits me. Anyone else discover their own answers by seeing their child diagnosed? Should I even seek a diagnosis if I don't really need help?

Our organization is researching vocational training programs and residential facilities for adults with autism or other developmental disabilities. If you know of a quality program, please pass it along.
