For the next 50 minutes and 26 seconds you will be taken behind the scenes and hear from those responsible for the creation of the Autism Support Program. This film is about a university and special group of people who defied the odds, said yes when so many others said no, and the unwavering spirit that brought the Autism Support Program to life.

Autism & College

A new experiment will soon be underway at the California State University East Bay. The University will soon be catering classes tailored to the strengths of many college age students with autism. Elements that will need to be in place to help this program to be a success are involvement from the parents, the students themselves, and the university staff.

When I learned about the Autism Support Program that Millie Gore, Ed.D., and her team at Midwestern State University developed, it filled me full of hope. Dr. Gore has devoted her life to making the world a better place for those with special needs. Through the creation of Initium House and the Autism Support Program, Dr. Gore has created a legacy and model that universities around the world will follow.

College Life with Autism

Colleges and Universities are sitting up and taking notice. Many are preparing for the large influx of students that, previously diagnosed on the autism spectrum, prepare for life out of high school. One such program at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh provided tremendous help for Dan Hackett, helping him get organized leading to a tremendous improvement in his G.P.A.
