Receptive Language Disorder

Individuals with Receptive Language Disorders may also be perceived as having a discipline issue when it's possible that the child just doesn't understand. Speech therapists have techniques that may help address these disorders.

Pragmatic Speech Therapy

Speech therapy for individuals diagnosed with higher level autism may still be needed, even if that individual has a huge vocabulary. It can focus on social interaction using pragmatic therapy. These individuals may have difficulty with deciphering non-verbal cues, inferencing, and understanding abstract concepts.

Communication Disorders and Autism

Communication disorders are common in a person diagnosed with autism. Both receptive and expressive language skills are needed for effective communication. These disorders continue as a person ages, but they may manifest in a different way. Speech therapists can help address these issues.
