Isabella Play Time

submitted by MattUsey

The other morning Isabella, sensing that I was running late, decided that it would be a great time for a little Daddy time. Well, as Carrie can attest, I’m a sucker for Madeline time or Isabella time -- even if I’m looking at my watch the entire time, I can’t resist.

A Father's Day

submitted by KentPotter

Father's Day is not a time that we typically plan big events. We learned early on that large family or group events often meant more stress and fatigue on Sam and on us. He had difficulty with noise (i.e. the diagnosis at age two of Sensory Integration Dysfunction) and when lots of people were around it created a significant level of stress for him. When your child is stressed and hurting, you too hurt. It was hard on the extended family at first to understand that no matter how "accepting" they were of his needs, it made no difference to him.

AutismSpot Party @ The G's

submitted by KentPotter

We have an incredible team made up of very talented and committed people. Every single day, AutismSpot team members are hard at work building content, filming, designing, coding, speaking, consulting, writing, advising, or teaching. Being agile and transparent are key components that make a team like this work so well. When someone says they are going to do something, they do it. We rely on everyone to play their role because there is no room for redundancy. Like autism, there is never a day off or lack of focus.

Not Enough

Sam loves his homeschool PE class at Lifetime Fitness. Besides this being just the coolest gym you have ever seen, the PE class is amazing. Kids get the opportunity to hang out with other kids that are either doing the homeschool thing or who attend a university model program. The class is run like a super-cool PE class and the kids totally dig it.

One of the autism support groups we participate in had a get together at It's a Sensory World in Dallas today. These types of groups are a fantastic way to connect with other parents and their children who are on the spectrum.

Picture perfect memory. This is often said in moments of surprise when someone is able to recall a situation or event in perfect detail.
