We are in the second trimester of our third pregnancy. Sam is eight (almost nine) and Luke is now five years old. It's been almost a decade since our first pregnancy and it is amazing how little has changed. Don't get me wrong, there are all kinds of new contraptions, toys, fancy car seats, websites, and other advances that have occurred in the past ten years. What hasn't changed is the lack of information regarding the causes of Autism.

Mothers of Autistic Children Have Higher Stress Levels

A study recently released by the University of Washington Autism Center reveals that mothers of children with autism tend to have a higher level of stress than mothers of children with only developmental delays.

In the new Giant Steps school in Illinois, the most minute details were scrutinized, even down to the volume of the automatic flushing toilets. The school will take some pressure off of area schools that are ill equipped to handle students that are on the autism spectrum.

Medicare needs PR help

I just read the article "Medicare Would Rather Buy $8000 Computer than $150 iPhone App" found over at GIZMODO.com and just about tossed my lunch across the room. The thoughts that are running through my mind are moving to fast to type. This type of archaic thinking, behavior, decision making, and communication is absurd.

Rugters-Camden Student Advocates For Mothers of Decades Past.

As aunt to a nephew with autism, Jennifer Parker observed the struggles endured by her sibling's family. In an effort to be an advocate for mothers that were termed "Refrigerator Mothers" decades ago, Jennifer has been able to study the leading psychiatric journals dating back as far as 1944 to 1977 that in large part blamed a child's lack of development on emotionally detached mothers.
