Special Education To The NFL

The story of Lawrence Guy is full of hope, inspiration, and perseverance. His story also includes special education, learning differences, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, bullying, and frustration. Going from special education to a four year college and now to the NFL has been a dream come true. It was through the determination of Lawrence's father, his brothers, and a young man who refused to accept "No" as a way of life, that opportunities started to open up. When you dream big, work heard, and have people fighting for you, anything is possible.

Bullying - My Story

submitted by Craig

Growing up in special education, I endured what felt like endless years of bullying. I've been called names, tossed in lockers and closets, and had my head shoved in toilets. I've been kicked, tripped, spat on, and had gum slapped on my head I can't tell you how many times, only for my friend to cut it out with a pocket knife. And, yes, that hurt.

Lessons From Spring Break 2010

submitted by KentPotter

Spring Break 2010 was a huge success. In the past, out of school = out of sync.
The first Saturday of Spring Break was Sam's actual birthday and his co-party with his buddy Cam. After kicking off Spring Break '10 with a birthday party we had our work cut out for us. How do you keep a 9yr old and 5 yr old fully engaged while also completing the nursery for your daughter who is going to be born in May? You stick to the basics and remember what it's all about....quality time.
Here were the guidelines we set for Spring Break 2010 and what we took away from the experience:

What's in your wallet?

submitted by KentPotter

For the child who is recently diagnosed on the autism spectrum and their family, the costs associated with evaluations, doctor appointments, therapists, developmental pediatricians, diagnosticians, and counselors can be astronomical. When your child is diagnosed on the spectrum, the reality sets in that every dollar that comes in can be used for some type of intervention or therapy that could make a significant difference in their life. The value of the dollar takes on an entirely new meaning. The question becomes....What's in your wallet?

Hurricane Ike sent GG and myself to Allen to stay with Kent, Angie, Sam and Luke. Big Bad Ike caused us to lose electricity and without power, the home gets a little warm. GG does not like a hot house, without lights and no air conditioning. Our plans were to go to Allen and GG would stay for several days, but, I would go back in a day or two. Five days later and I'm still here.

Ike is visiting Texas right now. We have family throughout Houston and it is pretty bad from the reports they have been sharing with us. Most of the family has been without power for a day now and there doesn't seem to be hope that it will be back on for days. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are directly in the path of Ike and for everyone who has family they are concerned about.

Outside Play

Just some random playing I took of the boys playing outside.

Dueling Brothers

I found some foam swords for the boys. They proceeded to duel it out in the middle of the living room.
