Together Time

I had an article published on a parenting website this week. Nothing about autism is included, but being a mom in general and how we can be better. I'm so excited to share it!
TOGETHER TIME
It's hard for a mom to catch a break during any point in her life. In the early years of parenting, constant demands are heaped on us from babies and young children who rely on us for their every need. There are months, oftentimes years, when a mom's much needed sleep is interrupted by a child who wants something, even if it's just a sip of water or a kiss goodnight.


2010 School Year, Third Time’s a Charm…

They say the third time is a charm for almost anything and I’m beginning to think that may be true. The first day of school has been agonizing for the past two years for my son Jacob. The lack of preparation gradually gained momentum and in each year resulted in a sequence of events nothing short of a catastrophe! The campus he was assigned to truly believed they were prepared with appropriately trained personnel to carry out his learning objectives but they quickly found they were gravely mistaken.


Initium House Documentary Release May 5, 2010

Initium House is the true story of the Autism Support Program at Midwestern State University. Under the leadership of Dr. Millie Gore and the extremely talented Jessica Dunn, the Autism Support Program has paved the way for what is possible on the collegiate level for students with Autism.


Autistic Student Crowned Homecoming Queen

Always friendly, Rachel Slawkowski greeted her classmates daily, not only earning their friendship, but also earning their nomination for Homecoming Queen. She was crowned this past weekend in front over her classmates, earning a loud symphony of cheers and applause.

New Home Opening In Syracuse NY Area For Teenager On The Spectrum

A new home opening in the Syracuse NY area for teenagers on the spectrum. The spacious home, located in central New York is one of few places built to assist those afflicted by Autism. In addition, the home will also assist those with developmental disabilities and cerebral palsy.
