Legislators nearly unanimously passed the autism bill on the senate floor this week. Passing by a whopping 39-2 vote, many supporters thanked those who supported the bill paving the way for thousands of children to receive services.

Parents, teachers, and medical professionals came together in front of a Missouri Senate Committee yesterday to plead for assistance. All are part of an effort to get Senate Bill 167 passed, bringing much needed financial help to the thousands of families across the state.

Parents in Iowa are not giving in to the recent rulings that ruled out a connection between vaccines and autism. They are petitioning for a bill that will have thimerosal removed from all types of vaccines, including the flu shot.

Hopefully joining the ranks of states with insurance mandates, politicians in Nevada are introducing a bill that will force coverage by insurance companies for medical and treatment expenses related to autism. The bill has a very good chance of passing as it has the support of the leaders of the Senate and the Assembly.

A recent study conducted in Oklahome hypothesizes that should Nick's Law be passed, that insurance rates may indeed rise, but by only 1%. The Republicans that are blocking the bill are claiming that their study denotes that rates may rise as high as 19%.

The State of Utah has introduced Senate bill 43 that will mandate insurance coverage for children affected by autism. The bill is expected to meet opposition on the floor as many will argue that it will cause a spike in insurance premiums.
