Valedictorian Looks Forward to College

Thomas Baker recently celebrated a tremendous achievement. Graduating at the top of his class, Thomas recently addressed his graduating class as Valedictorian. But he notes, his academic achievements are not over. He will soon be embarking on studies at the University of Texas in the fall.

Rowers Complete 1500 Mile Journey To Raise Money and Awareness

A team of 5 men rowing for Rock The Boat For Autism made a 1500 mile journey from Boca Raton, Fl to Sea Isle City, NJ to raise money for the Autism Society of America. Battling heat, sun exposure, dehydration and alligators the team pressed on making it safely to their destination.

Choices

Having choices in life is a luxury. Choosing what you will eat for breakfast, what career you will pursue, which friends you will keep up with over time are luxuries that some with Autism will never know. Choices.
Let's consider some of the different parenting profiles that exist and the choices parents make that give them one of these labels. Although this isn't an exhaustive list (because I made it up), it captures a fair amount of the different profiles that represent parenting styles we see every day.

Got Bowel Movements?

Being reported by Rueters out of New York, research shows that bowel movements of young children affected by autism are no different than children who are not on the spectrum. Any differences that were noted were explained away by differences in diet.

For Some, Swimming Provides Outlet

The Washington Post has a great article today detailing the benefits of swimming. The article spotlights 13 year old Justin Etherton and his success in the local swim league available to area youth. The league is not tailored for special needs children, but that hasn't stopped Justin. He may not be as fast as the other swimmers, but he enjoys himself just as much as they do.
