With the Canadian federal election quickly approaching this fall, many anticipate that autism will become a topic discussed on the front burner. Many parents throughout Canada are outraged at the lack of services and are calling on legislators to step up and lend assistance.

In the UK, Care Services Minister Ivan Lewis announced yesterday that government research will be launched to approximate the number of autistic adults and attempt to meet their needs. It has been recently noted in a 2006 studdy that autism affects 1 in every 100 people in the UK. Recent articles over the past few months have keyed in on those affected by autism and the dependency that they have on their families as services in the UK leave much to be desired. Hopefully this new push will change things for the better.
