Does Chelation Work? Parents Surveyed Say Yes

Despite the recent cancellation of scientific research to really see if chelation does improve the symptoms of autism, many parents still feel that chelation holds merit. The general consensus is that because medical research if fueled by pharmaceutical companies, that there was a great conflict of interest if chelation were to be proved effective.

Leaders of the Small World

On Saturday morning I had the opportunity to attend another dads’ coffee group meeting, aside from my regular one, for a new group of guys that has started here in my city. Over the past couple of months since our Dallas Morning News story appeared, we have had a lot of interest from dads in the area looking to network and get together in a low key setting. Soon we’ll be spreading out to other cities to get other new groups started.

Once inside the gates he entered a new world where he was quiet, patient, and talked about his favorite rides. Having a love of Disneyworld and the positive effects on Ben, the family decided to move cross country from Seattle and take up permanent residence in Orlando.

Sibling Study Hopes To Shed Light On Autism

A project called "Baby Sibs" will focus on the siblings of children with autism. If already having a child with autism, the chances of parents having another are greatly increased. Researchers hope that tracking siblings of children with autism will lead to better diagnotic tools in the future, should those children also show common traits associated with autism.

School is in session!

Like most of you, school started for us recently. Mason is now navigating his way in a mainstreamed class of typical kindergarteners and splitting time in his functional academics class.
Needless to say, last week was a stressful week…. (At least for us parents).
Rashele and I nervously dropped him off each day, ensuring that we excitedly told him about the day that was about to unfold before him.


Bringing Home The Gold

Brian Roberts, diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, and at one time being told by his school district that he "was not college material" has proved his ability to succeed. Competing in the SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City, Missouri, he brought home the gold medal.
