CNN Health: Scientists look to help children with autism find a voice

When a child misses the milestone of speech parents notice. Therapists at the Susan Gray School are trying a new scientifically based program that is designed to help children with autism learn to speak. A sensory integration program is used to teach children words in an specially designed room that challenges all their senses.

Is it sharing in the universal language of "suffering caused by stupidity" at someone's expense, is it the calm we get from thanking our lucky stars it was not us caught on tape doing the same thing, or is it just plain fun to enjoy a good laugh now and then that brings us back?

Oregon Sees Autism Numbers Rise

Oregon has seen a 33% rise in children with autism than they did just 3 years ago. It is estimated that as many as 7,579 students translating to as much as 13% of the school age population receives special education services from the state.

UNLV Offers Support for Autism Families

In Las Vegas Nevada, UNLV is doing it's part to raise awareness in the community. In addition, the University offers training for families that deal with autism day to day. Most of the training is free, while some of the more advanced training is at a cost, but based on income.
