Yesterday a few of us from our Dads Coffee group were called for an impromptu photo session and interview with the Dallas Morning News. We were all asked why we felt it necessary for dads to be more involved in our children's autism, and what we get out of our get togethers at Starbucks.

Frisco's Dads

I would like ot join the Frisco, TX Dad's group. Frank

article in Dallas paper

Loved the article. As a new family in Frisco I am feeling isolated as people are judgemental and keep their distance from our family due to our autistic daughter's behavior. I am shocked at how little knowledge there is about autism amongst the general poplulation and our experience with Frisco's school's has been appalling.
80% of marriages involving an autistic child end in divorce. Your article talked about the impact having an autistic child has on a marriage.
Can you post more info about the Dad's group. I would love my husband to attend. The demands of a job, 3 kids and commute make it very difficult for him to find any kind of connection here in Frisco.
I think we need to connect with others who understand and have compassion because there is not a whole lot of either out there.
Angela.

Hi Frank, Hi Angela!

Thanks for commenting on the article. All of us involved know how difficult it can be. We're working on a time that we can all get together next month, even if it means meeting one night during the week at a Starbucks somewhere. If you like drop me your email address and I'll email you both seperately.

Thanks!
