I am mother of Patrick (P) who was recently diagnosed with Autism. I have to admit I had heard of Autism but really had no idea what it was and what an epedimic it was. I was ignorant. It sad to say but I think a lot of people are ignorant of things until they affect their lives. I am still personally coming to terms with his diagnosis and what it means for P today and his future.
