Has anybody noticed a connection b/w SPD and allergies? When my son's allergies flare up his sensory issue flare up. We are about to do allergy testing to find out what he is allergic too. We currently take Zyrtec as needed to control his allergies. Any information would be great!

we didn't see an immediate connection with allergies but when he was 7 we began making the connection. Seasonal allergies would create the typical irritations and general grumpy attitude. What was surprising was after getting the food allergy testing we clearly saw a connection. If you don't feel well inside all the senses are on alert. Noises in stores, music, food textures all these things were a bit of a mystery but when we tracked the food he was eating and saw the SPD issues were showing up we knew where to focus our attention. Do the food allergy testing and hopefully you can turn that corner.

We are in the process of doing the allergy testing....we will get our results in a few days. Did you follow a specific diet for just eliminate what your child was allergic too....any information would be helpful. Thanks!
We're right there with you
cchavez, we're due for some testing next week with Mason via the backscratch test. We did a blood draw IGG test back in November, and later learned that the IGG test is the least accurate test. I suspect some things may come out the same w/the back scratch test, but am anxiously looking forward to see the disparity between the two tests, if any.

It has a ton of great information including a checklist for the disorder. SHe is an occupational therapist has so much info there you can't believe it. Also Rosemary White OT/LR is having a seminar at the SPD Symposium coming up in march 17 I believe you can check my site for that. I think its in new york.
