speech therapy

So, we had our speech evaluation, it's been a year since the last one. We actually had quit going to speech because it wasn't helping, nothing was coming of it. So, we quit and strictly did ABA at the time, the first day he tried to say ball--buh, kai actually said a sound other than the jargon he was speaking, two weeks later, Kai was talking.

So, here we were again. Another go round, mainly just to see what he needed and what they could do for us. He went in the room, half an hour later he came out. She said they actually did more testing than she had really prepared for. I get that alot, I think it's from ABA. Anyhow, she said that she was shocked at how far he'd come. The only real problems she saw, at this point was his articulation and also, that he could not answer questions. I think anyone who has a young child with autism knows that!!

So here we are, a year ago, he couldn't point *i taught him how shortly after his 2nd bday*, he tested between a 6-9mos old in speech, he couldn't play with a toy correctly, and he just stimmed the whole time and was unattentive. I felt really good about this.

Now, my daughter was a crazed lunatic the whole time. The ladies at the front desk were like, "wow, um, she's really active now". Every mom was commenting to me, "she really keeps you on your toes, you must be busy all day". I was sweating and exhausted. She bolted from one end to another. She even bolted out the front doors, yeah, she's really strong for a 21 mos old. Then as the therapist was telling me about the eval, vomit...all over me. After that, it was down hill. None of the kids would listen when we were leaving, Kai started hiding under the couches, Johnnie just tantrumed on the way out, in the meantime, kicking off her shoes repeatedly...then screaming..."no, no, no!" Until, I realized that she had no shoes on. So finally I got out of there....barely.

Good news...but next time, definitely the double stroller.
