We travel about 1 1/2 hours roundtrip for speech therapy twice a week. Now on those sometimes very long car rides, I let Rock listen to fun music that he likes. His favorite is "Who Let the Dogs Out". At first I thought it was cute and would respond with the appropriate "who - who - who - who" and we would all laugh.

Now I want to decapitate whoever wrote that song and the record company that decided to produce it. All the time.............ugh. He has heard me get on to him so much now, that he has starting singing "who let the.........stop singing that right now".

So it became a problem during his therapy sessions - he would sing whatever we listened to on the way throughout the hour to escape whatever he was supposed to be doing. So his therapist made him a cool cd of "spa" type music. You know - stuff you could mediate to. She instructed us to listen to that cd on the way to speech to get him calm and ready to work.

So last week, I pick him up from school and throw the cd in. Let's just see how this works............ahhhh, trickling water, chanting, ocean waves............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Before long, I am swerving all over the interstate about to fall asleep. Baby Colt 45 is drooling on himself. And Rock is relaxed alright. He is passed out asleep and has now wet his pants in his coma. So we finally make it to therapy alive, and with a new pair of pants - he is ready to go.

Isn't it funny how you will try ANYTHING to get the results you want with a child with autism. I don't know if he did his speech therapy any better this time, but I DO know he didn't sing the &%$#@ dog song!

LOL!! Like always your posts

LOL!!

Like always your posts make me laugh. My DD hates music as she is hyper sensitive to noise. Last year I was driving my oldest to a soccer tournament in Houston and I brought all my rock CDs from the 80's and when I went to put one in the CD player out popped a Barney CD. I had not listened to the CD player since we used to play Barney everywhere we went and my youngest was 9 last year!!

Thank goodness I don't have to listen to children's music and "Who Let the Dogs Out" is better than Barney any day.
