Apologies for a very long absence…. The past few months have been nothing short of hectic and blogging fell by the wayside. I missed it tremendously. But as always, I had blogs mentally logged in my head and just needed time to get them to paper…er laptop.
We’ve seen some great strides of late.
Mason’s sense of humor has branched out tremendously. Last week, on two occasions, he stood before an audience at a family gathering and proudly told some jokes that he recently memorized online.
He nervously fidgeted, contorting his body in all sorts of Gumby-like positions, eyes squinted in visual stim while he spoke.
Mason : What do you call a penguin in the desert?
Audience: I don’t know….what?
Mason: LOST! (emphasizing the punchline and delivery)
He wasn’t done and continued to the next. His physical contortions and visual stimming continued.
Mason: What is black and white and goes around and around?
Audience: I don’t know … what?
Mason: A penguin in a revolving door!
And then there are times when he’s unintentionally funny like today when I met him for lunch at school and he said “ I don’t like the 100th day of school. I like the 100th day of NO school better”
He was serious but I laughed anyway.
