Usually our weekends are packed full of things to do but this weekend was an exception. Nothing really on the agenda other than some fun and relaxation.
Here’s a quick recap:
Rashele and I managed for forget about autism for a few hours and rocked out at a 80’s themed party at a friend’s house last night. Everyone dressed up in classic 80’s fashion. Or at least what we perceived was fashionable back then. Good music played all night long....or at least until we left at midnight. These are our “non autism” friends, which pretty much guarantees that any conversations we have when we’re with them will not revolve around therapists, insurance companies, treatment, causation and the like.
It was a welcomed break.
(And Rashele and I completely rocked out in our punk rock garb. Sid & Nancy had nothing on us. Pictures available upon request)
The best highlight of the weekend was Mason’s verbal interactions with the family. I think his inclusion in the mainstreamed class is really helping bring out speech. We’re hearing more complete sentences than ever. It’s not a conversation yet, but we’re making solid progress in the right direction.
The Dallas Cowboy loss against the hated Washington Redskins. The defense just wasn’t on their game today. Romo wasn’t either. The ‘Skins played well so I give them credit though it pains me to do so.
Ants – While moving Mason’s playset in the backyard yesterday while barefoot I managed to find the one fireant hill hidden deep in the grass. Multiple bites and lots of benadryl!
