Dear Parents,
It is with great joy and excitement that I begin blogging here today.
My name is Julia Machuga, and I am a Son-Rise Program Senior Certified Child Facilitator. What does that mean? Simply put, it means I am herein the Allen/Plano/Frisco/McKinney area to help you and your family start and/or continue your Son-Rise Program. The Son-Rise Program teaches a specific and comprehensive system of treatment and education designed to help families to enable their children to dramatically improve in all areas of learning, development, communication and socialization. Also, I will be continuing to blog here with suggestions and techniques you can begin implimenting right now with your child and see dramatic changes.
The first technique I would like to offer you is to really be with your child, in his/her world. In a quiet room or section of your home, watch your child and see what he/she is doing. Is this action repetitious and/or exclusive? Is he lining up his toy trains? Is she moving a piece of string in front of her eyes? If so, this is what Son-Rise refers to as an "ism" (you may also have heard of this as "stimming"). Now, what I am about to suggest may go against everything you have ever read or been taught. The effective technique I am suggesting is to joing your child. Get your own trains and line them up. Find a similar string and watch it dance before your eyes. Whatever your child is doing, the best you can, do it too. But don't just "do it". Really do it. Take 15, 30, 45 (however many you want) minutes to enjoy and love whatever activity your child has just taught you.
Listen, I know it's different. But think about it for just a minute. If telling your child to stop that activity or behavior cured Autism, would you be reading this right now? No, because I bet like the 100's of parents I have worked with, you, too, have tried. And that's fine! Now, lets try something that has been working for over 30 years! Let me help you try Son-Rise!
