"I'm so OCD"..........
Something you hear people say all the time. People with a type A personality say it a lot. People who have no clue what OCD is really all about...............
The Rock can tell you a little about it.
Rock has just recently begun his battle with OCD. Most autistic kids have a touch. Lining up toys in a straight line and freaking out if someone messes it up. Doing the same activity over and over. Comes with the territory. Autism norms.....
Lately it has taken a much more real turn. Some examples..... He has to touch the car door a certain number of times before he opens it. He retraces steps while walking (think Jack Nicholas in As Good As It Gets). He has to open an imaginary door when changing directions. He gets on and off his bike about 10 times before he ever gets on to ride. Our sweet little 6 year old neighbor who rides bikes with him says "why does he always do that?". I just say "I don't know sweetie". He gets in and out of bed a lot before he lays down. He turns water on and off.
And the worst part is, you can tell it's really stressing the poor kid out. He literally HAS to do these things or he can't get on with his day.
We start him on Zoloft. So far, no help. Of course his "more than helpful" psychiatrist can't see him for another month. Yes that is sarcasm.
Well, at least we balance each other out. Rockstar's mommy (me) is the most unorganized, scatterbrained, couldn't give a crap human being on the planet. I may not can cure him of autism, or OCD or anything else - but I'll make sure his life is as carefree as it can be.
Oops - i just tripped over a perfect line of drumsticks. I'd better put those back in order before he wakes up...........
The Rock is so OCD - OUTRAGEOUSLY CUTE DUDE..............
