My son Charles is 3 1/2 yrs old... for the past 2 years I have been saying something was not right. After much research I came to the conclusion of autism. Thursday this was confirmed.

Diagnosis
I hope you write more. When we got our diagnosis it was pretty much anti-climatic as we had been expecting it. Some people are very overwhelmed at this point but for us it was just good to finally have it confirmed.
There is lots of good info on this site and lots of support and people who can listen without judgement. I have met some of the greatest people through my advocacy for my daughter.
Diagnosed
I can imagine it has been a difficult 2 years for you. The wave of emotions can go on for some time as you now move forward in a direct (albeit very wide) path to help him reach his full potential. Thank you for sharing with all of us and it's our hope that you post often so we can keep up with Charles and share any insight the community can offer.
We are glad you are here!

Diagnosed
Like you, we knew the diagnosis before we stepped foot in the doctor's office. It still didn't make it easier to accept but a sense of reality set in. But what I viewed as that "reality" back then changed and evolved. I learned from that fateful day 5 years ago to never underestimate my son's ability to learn, adjust, evolve and surprise.
Thanks for sharing and we look forward to hearing your story and your sons progress.
