Ahhhh, the joys of autism.
The Rock is an attention seeker. Now, in the world of autism, that's a great thing. He doesn't seclude himself. He wants to be around people ALL the time and be the center of attention. Especially family, teachers and therapists.
His latest "trick" to get attention is to drop his pants and pee wherever he feels like it. He laughs while he's doing it and says "do not pee-pee in the floor". Something he's heard about 987 times now. Are you kidding me?
Attend and Ignore and it will go away, right? Well how in the h* do you attend and ignore that? So he gets what he wants. Attention. This is usually in the form of mommy yelling and saying a few choice words that he can imitate later, getting the Resolve and a towel and making the Rock clean it up. I'm sorry. I just can't help it. Floors are just my "thing". I am not OCD - the rest of my house is a wreck. But the floors have to stay clean. The guys from Stanley Steamer now know me by name, and I can just leave the house unlocked at this point. They have been here twice in the past month. Hello Ms. Benson, how are you. Which rooms this time?
So a few days ago his teacher sent me a text message asking me to send him a belt to school. "Why in the world would they want a belt"? Then it dawned on me - GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cinch his pants so tightly that he can't get them down to christen the floor! And he'll never figure a belt out - he's just now getting to snaps and zippers! Why didn't I think of that?
So we are going on day two of the belt and so far so good. I've got that sucker cinched so tight the poor kid can barely breathe and will probably have some sort of digestive problem, but he'll learn one way or another.
He is still a cutie though - my little human sprinkler system......................

You can use all this material in your comedey routine later. I laughed really hard but only because that phase is behind me and it is funny now. I know it isn't so funny to you.
Isn't it amazing how sometimes the solution to a complex problem is so simple!?!?
Can I have a glass of wine now as it is Friday night and all us parents deserve one?
lol
Yes I bet it's funny when you have long passed this stage!
And by the way - we deserve a glass every night!
wine every night
We sure do! (we deserve it - not that we do it)
Just an observation - but remember when you were young and idealistic and you read stories about suburban moms who become addicted to prescription meds or are secret alocoholics and you think "How awful, how could they do that". Fast forward 15 years and 3 kids and now I think "It would be soooo easy".
I never thought parenting would be a cakewalk, but I never expected this!
