Happy World Autism Awareness Day

Submitted by JoeyBarton on Thu, 04/02/2009 - 14:39.

With the birth last year of World Autism Awareness Day, thousands have learned what Autism is all about through our personal stories, FaceBook, media outlets, and community events.

In coming across many news stories from around the world today I felt uplifted. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I feel….. at least today, that we’re finally getting somewhere.

Not everyone in the world knows what Autism is, nor do they know the burden it places on family, friendships, finances, and careers.

But WE do.

Because of that, we’ve turned into a relentless group of parents that have organized rallies, marched in Washington and in our state capitols, and shared our message of hope and concern for our children's future at every possible opportunity to do so.

Keep up the good work.

true that

Your comment of "Not everyone in the world knows what Autism is,...." that was so true.

I loved it.
I have no one close to me on the spectrum (other than my son) & no one understands what my world is life.

Thank you for reminding me someone else out there has a clue what this life is really like.
