Last week we had the incredible opportunity to join Paige McCoy Smith on the Good Morning Texas show which airs on WFAA-TV Channel 8 ABC in north Texas. WATCH THE INTERVIEW! Jay Espaillat (VP & Producer for AutismSpot) co-produced the four segments with Paige that aired over a three day period. The show was a huge success for the Autism Community in bringing to the forefront the issues that families are faced with after the diagnosis.

Paige is the Host of "The Not So Perfect Parent" segments and a devoted mother who is working to improve the lives of all those she comes in contact with. Paige's research and in-depth involvement in creating these segments was thorough and very hands-on. It is with great appreciation and our most sincere thanks that we acknowledge Paige and the entire GMT staff for helping to shed light on "The Myths About Autism" featuring Dr. Lisa Pierce, "Play & The Importance of Social Skills" featuring Cristina Busu, "Family Life & AutismSpot.com" featuring me and Angie, and "The Pros and Cons of Mainstreaming" featuring Billy Edwards of Behavioral Innovations.

Paige writes a wonderful blog that I encourage you to read and follow Not So Perfect Parent Blog. She explores the challenges of being a parent in today's always-on society and she speaks to the realities that all of us face as we plan for the future.

So what was it like being on GMT? We have been asked this question a lot over the last week. The answer is simple...it was INCREDIBLE! The entire GMT team was extremely gracious and welcoming. The team treated us like friends who were coming over for coffee (or a cocktail depending on who you were hanging with!!). We had a wonderful time hanging out with Paige, Amy Vanderoef, Alexa Conomos, Gary Cogill, Brenda Teele and Greg Fields. Many thanks to the entire production crew who works behind the scenes to make this such a successful show. We would also like to say special thanks to the Executive Producer who not only supported Paige in showing interest in running a story about Autism ....but, who encouraged Paige to develop four stories on this extremely important topic.

On behalf of the entire AutismSpot team, the families, loved ones, friends and professionals who are working and living in the Autism Community we say THANK YOU Paige McCoy Smith and thank you Good Morning Texas & Belo Corporation for supporting the Autism Community.
