Easter Weekend

Submitted by kidspeak on Fri, 04/22/2011 - 08:28.

Easter is this weekend! All your hard work this month is about to pay off. Here are the three most important tips we can give you:

1. Egg Hunts: On the big day use the same routines and strategies that you did while practicing. This means use the same words, use the same visuals, use the same Easter basket, etc. If you used a scavenger hunt list to find specific eggs when you practiced, then use the same list on the big day. If you sang songs while searching for eggs when you practiced, then sing the same songs on Easter. The more familiar the egg hunt routine is to your child, the more successful they will be.

2. Past/Future: Don’t forget to take pictures and/or videos on Easter. You will be able to use these afterwards to talk about what your child did that day. “Look! Lauren found a red egg. Red egg in basket. Yay Lauren!” In addition, you will be able to use these videos/pictures next year to prepare your child.

3. Have Fun: Make this day fun! If you practiced all month and your child just wants to find one egg then celebrate that accomplishment and rejoice that one egg! Remember you main goal is to create positive natural language learning memories and to enjoy the experience!
We hope that you all have a very happy Easter!
