Anytime you see dark circles under the eyes, think "something is trying to get out of her body and is having a hard time doing so". The "something" may vary. It is very often a toxin, or could be a dead virus or bacteria. The channel(s) that it's trying to leave through may vary. The liver is often involved, either primarily or secondarily.
Look for clues, to what channel is overloaded. Things like the following might tell you the organs primarily involved:
- Constipation or other bowel issues (bowels/liver)
- Dehydration (kidneys)
- Pain or difficulty in urination (kidney)
THINGS YOU CAN DO
Support the liver and kidneys. For liver support, I like Milk Thistle by any good herb company, or Liverlife, by Bioray. For kidney support, Uva Ursi or Dandilion Leaf would be good. My favorite herb brand in general is Gaia Herbs, but there are other ones too. Encourage more fluids, especially just plain filtered water. Or you can make some highly watered-down no-sugar cranberry juice (good for kidneys) or pear juice, with a touch of stevia for sweetness, and make popsicles, slushees, etc. out of it, whatever it takes, to encourage more fluid intake!
If you're doing chelation or other active things to detox, you may want to cut your dosing in half (with permission from your practitioner) until the situation resolves a little.
In my observations, as the body becomes less toxic, after you get more of the toxins out, you won't see dark circles a lot anymore. The reasons for this are several: the organs of detoxification work better when the body isn't so toxic. Also, with less toxic load, there aren't such large amounts of toxins trying to leave. We used to see dilated pupils and dark circles together in my son A LOT in our long-ago pre chelation times. Nowadays, hardly ever, and if I see dark circles, I always take it as a cue that he's having a really hard time physically for some reason, or might be detoxing a whole lot at that moment, and treat him accordingly. You may also see this, even in people with well-functioning bodies, in times when the body is fighting an infection, and trying to get rid of dead viruses or bacteria, or in times of extreme stress, when the organs aren't working so well.
Some have reported seeing dark circles while the kids are taking high doses of minerals. I have several guesses about why this might be seen:
1. High amounts of magnesium helps with detox, so it's possible that magnesium was kicking up detoxification and that's what was causing the dark circles.
2. The body might not need such high doses of minerals, and have been trying to dump the excess, that it couldn't use right then. Try cutting the extra mineral dose to see if this helps.
3. Chelation depletes minerals and it's possible that those giving it were also chelating their kids, and that's why they were giving the extra minerals. So the dark circles would be due to heightened detoxing, not to the minerals being given, per se. In this case, I'd try cutting the detoxifier agent doses and increasing liver and kidney support and see if things improve.
