Is art a science or is science an art? There are infinite answers to this question. To begin delving into such matters, I would prefer a Partagas 160 Cifuentes Especial in one hand and a fine spirit in the other. Toss in a little technology chatter and you have yourself a really good evening ahead.
Technology use to be considered a discussion topic only for the "techie geeks". Now, technology and tech discussions are a mainstay in almost all our lives. Whether it is your iPhone, Treo, Blackberry or MacBook, iMac, ThinkPad, Inspiron or Satellite there is a good chance you don't go more than 48 hours without accessing the web in some manner. Whether you realize it or not, you are usually surrounded by devices or equipment that is connected to the internet and utilizing extremely complicated technology at all times.
As we gain more familiarity with all of the powerful tools that can be found on the net, we also become more selective in our taste. Sameness is boring and boring is....well, boring. For the most part, AutismSpot is a small group of tech and media die-hards that have come together over something we are all completely obsessed with - serving others. We get bored very easily and that means we really like to shake things up a bit (more on this in a minute) and make things more interesting for you, our valued community member.
Let me share with you an example......I recently visited with a mom who was telling me how this site has completely transformed her relationship with her child. It was very moving to say the least. What was fascinating about the outlying comments she made was that she was unaware of the News section of the site. Additionally, she was telling me about some of her favorite blogs when I informed her that we have six very different bloggers that offer incredible perspectives on life and everything in between. Apparently, she had become accustomed to clicking on the blog titles on the homepage and never selecting the blog tab at the top of the page. For months, she has been missing out on some great blogs and News updates. Besides making AutismSpot her homepage, she said she learned that doing the same thing over and over means you could easily be missing out on an entire world you didn't know existed. Her goal is to find break her typical clicking patterns and find out what else is going on.
So what does all this have to do with art and science and really good cigars?
There are more than 200 videos in the library and we haven't even begun to share with you the hundreds of videos on:
biomedical interventions and options
nutrition and diet from our own Mika Bradford
Autism Across The Lifespan: Ages 3 - 93 years old
...and that is just the tip of the iceberg
The process of creating these short and powerful vignettes is as much science as it is art. We take great care in the process and that sometimes means traveling, researching, and partnering with the brightest people in a particular field.
It is our hope that you have some fun and can easily access all this great information. Your experience should be extremely positive, enjoyable and make you want to join the others around the world who have made AutismSpot their homepage. If you haven't done this already, in the next two weeks there will be a lot of reasons why you will want to have AutismSpot greet you every time you log in.
The science of how we make all this stuff happen will remain in our little black box. But, the beauty of these creations, the passion of the people that are on these videos, the care that has gone into the products that you will soon have access to is something we hope that you find great delight in. Making things simple requires a tremendous amount of work. This is one of our objectives... when you enter AutismSpot you should let the idea of work roll right off your shoulders. This should free your mind and heart to open up and begin absorbing, learning, and enjoying what others have to share.
