Hold The Eggs Please

submitted by JoeyBarton

Rashele and I elected to delve further into the depths of Mason’s suspected allergies. I say suspected because we became leery of the IgG results after reading more in depth some discouraging facts about the test and the inaccuracies that tend to occur with it. We consulted with an allergist who confirmed that the IgG is the least accurate in determining allergies for a variety of reasons. This is in part because the results are only as good as the lab doing the testing.

Please join me in welcoming Alaina to AutismSpot. A wonderful woman from the Pacific Northwest who has a passion for her family and for sharing the adventures of life with a low-functioning child with autism.

Autism Is Holding Me Prisoner

submitted by alainajoy

It is now 6 weeks since Jacob has been to school. I am a prisoner in my own house, subject to attack by a my 105 lb six-year-old at any time. He is the absolute king of our home right now- and it is very stressful and difficult. We have to alter our lives/schedules/plans/sleep to work around him, to avoid a fight that we can't win. This is due to aggression issues, attachment to me, poor sleep habits- and totally magnified by the fact that there has not been a consistent teacher or aid in his kindergarten classroom for the majority of the school year.

Summer Bus Experiment

submitted by alainajoy

Two weeks into the Summer Bus Experiment and I am convinced that Jacob has a real reason to fear getting on the bus. His complete change in demeanor and the way he immediately tenses his body- it's obvious he is afraid. He goes from being perfectly happy before it arrives, to shaking and crying and refusing to go near the school bus.

Little Things Mean So Much

I had something happen a little while ago, and I had to come right home and write it down while it is still fresh in my mind.
